But it's not all sunshine and roses in the garden, is it?
No matter how many gardening YouTube videos you binge-watch or gardening books you read, things you try to do don't seem to work out quite right...
You follow gardening garden advice only to find out that your attempts look nothing like the photos you admire on social media...
You promised yourself to never use chemicals, but the last pest invasion was overwhelming...
You struggle to start plants from seeds -- They get spindly and then fall over...
You want to be successful at making compost, but the compost pile never gets hot and you're not sure why...
You've tended a garden for years, and lately, growing conditions, weather, and pests are changing.
You're not sure what adjustments to make...
Do you struggle to figure out the best way to start a garden or make changes to a new one?
Do you work hard on a garden project only to discover you did it wrong and have to dig it up and start over?
Gardening is important to you, but your back hurts and you're dealing with age and other health limitations...
Do you ever wonder, "Why is gardening so complicated?"
After 40 years of digging in the dirt and helping gardeners from around the globe, I’ve pretty much seen it all.
The biggest hurdle isn't about not having enough time, money, or fancy tools. It’s about missing key pieces of the gardening puzzle and not seeing the big picture of Nature’s way.
Many gardeners face battles like fighting pests without harsh chemicals, keeping plants happy and healthy naturally, and coping with crazy weather—all while trying to avoid hurting their back or harming the planet. Yikes!
Often, they feel stuck, unsure if they’re doing it right, or constantly switching tactics, hoping something will work.
I love Marion's upbeat, positive, go get 'em attitude and demeanor. I appreciate the class format that is always jam-packed with heaps of helpful information.
That’s exactly why I started

Meet Marion
Hello there, I'm Marion and for 40 years I've been gardening in Kodiak, Alaska -- which has prepared me to coach gardeners in North America, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.
The Heart and Soul
Behind The UpBeet Gardener Community
My passion is gardening and helping beginners to long-timers. I know how it feels to have no idea what to do next. (When I was starting out, there was no YouTube and no internet).
Sometimes I was lucky, and my efforts were rewarded. Most of the time, I was left feeling discouraged. Because of the mistakes I made, the hours I wasted, and the money I lost, I nearly gave up.
As the years went by, I managed to develop a green thumb.
Now, three decades later, I write a weekly gardening column. I've been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, Reader's Digest, The Smithsonian, and Organic Gardening to name a few.
I've conducted workshops and seminars in many areas, including Seattle’s Northwest Flower and Garden Show, the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show and numerous Master Gardener and garden club functions from Alaska to Alabama.
In 2001, I co-authored the New York Times bestseller, "Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul", which has inspired thousands of gardeners around the globe.
Having felt the frustration that only beginners know, I decided that my legacy would be to help other like-minded gardeners on their journey to gardening satisfaction and success.
The techniques I share with you have been proven to work in one of the world's harshest climates. These methods been trialed in my own garden and by fellow gardeners and sources that I trust.
Every gardener has a dream. And since you are reading this, I believe you have a dream garden in mind, too.
I want to support you on your journey so you can better enjoy your garden -- and life -- to its fullest through The UpBeet Gardener community.
